MORT ZUCKERMAN’s latest piece in the NY Daily News is a bit frightening. And if you care about the future of the United States it’s [sadly] a must read. His opinion piece “Drowning in Debt: Obama’s Spending and Borrowing Leaves U.S. Gasping for Air” is filled with conservative financial projections that will knock your socks off. Want to know what happens when the US’s skyrocketing debt meets the perfect storm of boomers cashing in on Medicare and Social Security? Plan on your taxes going up a bit. Quite a bit.

These are real hard questions that demand tough solutions. Read it, and than weigh in with your comments…

Brilliantly depressing article in the latest GQ by former Bush White House speechwriter Matt Latimer… Suppose I’m going to have to buy his new book now.

“Matt Latimer worked as one of Dubya’s speechwriters during the president’s final twenty-two months in office. He was there to help sell the surge to a skeptical public. He was there as we pretended that the fundamentals of the economy were strong. And he was there to see a president who failed to grasp his own $700 billion bailout package—even as he was pitching it to the American public on live TV. A disillusioned insider reveals for the first time just how messy things got.”
