MYANMAR SENTENCES PRO-DEMOCRACY LEADER

Nobel Peace Prize laureate DAW AUNG SAN SUU KYI was sentenced to 3 years of hard labor for a bizarre incident which the junta claimed violated her terms of house arrest. So, in a show of compassion [read sarcasm] the junta reduced her sentence to an additional 18 months of house arrest, ensuring that San Suu Kyi would not be involved in next year’s ‘elections’.
